May Planning Committee Meeting

Dear Friends of NU Food Talks,

Thank you for your support over our first year! We are so very grateful to all of you attending our potlucks, asking questions, networking and guiding our events with your ideas. As we wrap up this academic year we hope you will join us for our Planning Committee meeting end of May to discuss the progress of our program. We'd also like to use this as an opportunity to create partnerships and plan big.

Before we set the date to meet, we would like to know from you if there are any dates on our organization's calendars that are filled. Please use this doodle poll to pick a date.

We hope we can execute two goals during this meeting.

1. First to gather your thoughts, suggestions and ambitions for Food Talks potlucks and events during our third academic year.

2. Secondly, to gather together as a food community to discuss what your organizations' goals are over the next year. What events do you have planned? Who in the community are you trying to reach and what are you doing to reach them? How can we team together to further knowledge about sustainable food and help our community make the best food decisions they can?

Lastly, we'd like to ask for your continued support. As you know many of your organizations are listed on our website (www.nufoodtalks.org) as partner organizations. We'd like to expand our list to include all of your organizations. What we ask is for you to discuss with your leadership signing our Letter of Support. We've gone ahead and attached this for you.

If you have any questions about the Planning Committee, the Letter of Support, or Food Talks in general, please e-mail us at anytime. Don't forget, if you have a potluck talk that you think would be brilliant, please share!!

Thank you all for your work in each of your own individual fields. Without you we wouldn't be one step closer each day to a more sustainable food system.

About Us

NU Sustainable Food Talks is a community program, made of students, faculty, staff and community members, whose mission is to strengthen our sustainable food systems network, our knowledge base, and find ways together to maximize our outreach.

It is our goal to bring stakeholders from all parts of the food system together in order to learn of each other’s challenges in making our food system sustainable and to develop action points on an individual level and initiatives to be implemented by partnering organizations.

Our objective is to host a pot-luck talking group the first Tuesday of each month made up of students, faculty, staff, community members, food advocates and experts. Each meeting will feature an expert from part of our food system who will speak on their work, the issues they face, and how it affects our foodshed.
